Filigree is a goldsmith technique that originated in Mixtec culture but developed in Yucatan during the Conquest of Mexico. It was added to the knowledge that the Maya had in metalworking. Filigree uses fine threads of silver and gold to create different organic patterns that are fused together to create a single piece.
