Ten braids of cotton threads woven using the macramé technique connect the rectangular links made of bull horn to the canvas woven on a Mayan loom. The braids symbolize the crossroads of the artisans from the communities of Yaxunah and Los Laureles, who make this design possible and transform the materials into unique elements for this model. They are also a metaphor for the concept of walking the path, which in Maya is called "beel.

The carving of horn was introduced in the Viceroyalty in Mexico and has been perfected over time by the Mayans. Today, it is a globally recognized technique, native to Yucatan, that uses only recovered material. The Mayan backstrap weaving technique was developed in the western mountains of Guatemala before the arrival of the Spaniards. The technique involves interweaving cotton threads with a pair of sticks that gradually form a canvas with the weaver‘s movements in sync with the back-and-forth motion of the rods. Henequen, being a fiber with qualities such as flexibility, softness, and durability, makes it the perfect raw material for working with this technique.
